Spectre - Jude Bennett

CJ

A true musical masterpiece.

Firstly I think it is really important to note that this whole album (apart from a couple of guest features) was written, performed and produced by Jude himself. The whole album has been formulated to perfection, with every track having its place positioned perfectly to ensure the consistent flow of the album and it's thematic nature.

The album begins with a few haunting notes on guitar, gradually built up with the slight addition of bass, before flowing into the first song "Alpine Servitude": the transition into songs is something really prominent throughout, as it keeps the atmosphere consistent as though reading a book: it means chapter one cannot be followed by chapter five, it needs to remain in the order it was written for the full effect. Every track is balanced with guitar solos, melodic vocals, harmonies, complex drum beats and a few are even topped off with a metal vocal essence. The one that stood out for me among the rest was 'Sicaro': this song is the absolute epitome of Jude's work. The dynamics of the vocals are perfectly blended with the harmonic guitar riffs, hammer ons and pull offs and accompany the 80s rock combined with metal basis the song gives off. When talking to Jude about his new release, he informed me that "More melodic bits are truly my musical core... there's a bit of everything in this release. Relaxing acoustic ballad, instrumental metal, electronic influence, djent influence... (I) just hope people like it!"

From start to finish the album transports the listener to lands of ghouls and darkness, inspiring them to associate the music with aspects such as inner demons, thus forming their own personal connection with the album. This is a true work of art.
