My (Royal) Blood - The Amazons

As a fan of The Amazons and Royal Blood independently, when I listened to 'My Blood', I initially tuned into the merge of both bands.

Back in 2022, I was fortunate enough to see Royal Blood in concert, with The Amazons supporting: Royal Blood had recently released their album 'Back to the Water Below', which felt more produced in comparison to the raw yet polished nature of their first two albums, and The Amazons were at their indie peak, with the release of 'Bloodrush'. The two bands complimented each other perfectly, and the partnership between them both was clear even then.

In this latest track, it feels that Royal Blood have taken The Amazons under their wing to create a musical child in the form of 'My Blood'.

The produced orchestral effect from 'Back To The Water Below' is evidently translated in this new track, not dissimilar to Royal Blood tracks such as 'Oblivion'. Although I love both bands independently, my fear is that The Amazons may loose their sense of authenticity to be swept away under the wings of Royal Blood. This being said, for one track as a standalone, I do believe the complementary nature of Mike Kerr's production unlocks a new level for The Amazons, and demonstrates a sense of collaboration I haven't seen in a long time.

I'm looking forward to seeing what is on the cards next for The Amazons and the direction in which they take it.

NB: As a bookworm, reading the blurb on the album cover I would 100% buy the book.
