I'm interrupting our Swift vs Turner series to bring a special post surrounding Formula 1.
This week saw F1 75 Live: the first all-team livery reveal in a one-off anniversary show at the O2 Arena in London. Although I couldn't get tickets, I watched the show online and had some very key observations surrounding the artists that performed:
1) Representation in drivers and music tastes
I was pleasantly surprised to see the kind of music I typically like being represented at a large scale international event (MGK), rather than just pop or current charts. In all honesty, I felt the musical representation was superb, with a range of acts to hit many different tastes. Rock, pop, country and a DJ set were the main music sets on the night, with a classy performance from Tems in the mix to accompany Aston Martin's reveal.
2) Country is King
Kane Brown took to the stage (alongside American team, Haas) with his country hit. Country is back on the rise recently with the likes of Beyonce and Post Malone jumping on the bandwagon with new artists such as Shaboozey.
3) You learn something new every day
After years of watching F1, I'm ashamed to admit I had never considered the composer of it's iconic theme: then along came Brian Tyler's Are We Dreaming to show the world who he is.
4) Take That have still got it!
I feel quite a few artists loose their vocal ability with time ... not Gary Barlow and his bandmates! It was a beautiful moment to see such an integral band to British Culture, looking so smart and still sounding just as pitch perfect now as they did years ago. To hear a classic favourite like Take That, felt like it brought a sense of home to the event: reminding us all that Formula 1's home has and will always will be, rooted in Great Britain.
The artists for the Silverstone Grand Prix have also just been announced: Becky Hill, Raye, Sam Fender and Fatboy Slim will all be headlining main stage in July. It is one not to be missed.
